JACL-ADL's Virtual Pilgrimage to Heart Mountain: A Discussion on Identity, Holocaust, and Incarceration - Shared screen with speaker view
Who can see your viewing activity?
Hello all from Huntington Beach.
Hi to the panelists (especially Eric) from Bellevue, WA
Hello from Silverlake
Thank you Eric and hello Aura.
There are so many similarities:
Confiscation of valuables, registration of families, assigned prisoner numbers, frozen bank accounts, loss of property and loss of jobs. Most important - similarities in hate against a racial / religious group.
I am honored to hear Eric speak “in person” and am wondering if your generation strove to be more “American” as did the JAs growing up in the 50s, after camp. Thank you for your insight.
Hi Aura! From your comments, I think you're more JA than you realize. I am happy for you now that you’re genuinely “out”.
The Japanese American camps were indeed concentration camps, but they were not death camps in the same way as those created by the Nazis.
Thank you all for a great program! Hope to hear from you again at a future program.
Maddie, maybe put in chat Text Teach to 52886 to be connected to the action
